Our Team consists of 8 investment professionals of varied backgrounds and experiences situated across 3 countries. Our team is spearheaded by three Partners who have the day-to-day responsibility of our funds as well as supervising portfolio management.

Co-Founder & Managing Partner

Thierry Hugnin

Thierry holds a Master’s Degree in Applied Finance from Paris IX-Dauphine University in France and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in England and Wales in 1993. He started his career in investment banking in London at Flemings and later joined Blakeney Management, a London-based investment boutique, focusing on Africa and the Middle East. Thierry later moved back to Mauritius and co-founded Kibo Capital Partners in 2007 with Jean-Pierre Dalais in a venture with CIEL Limited to pursue his belief that Africa offers attractive opportunities for private equity.

Christoph Evard

Prior to joining Kibo Capital Partners in 2014, Christoph was Vice President at DEG/KfW Group, where he structured and managed equity and mezzanine investments across Africa. He previously worked in M&A Corporate Finance for Deutsche Bank and JP Morgan, where he held several positions. He holds a Master’s degree from Columbia University, USA, and an undergraduate degree from the University of Basle, Switzerland. In 2001, Christoph co-founded Vistage Germany, a business in the services industry, working closely with CEOs of mid-sized corporations.

Alex Alexander

Alex holds an MBA from the University of Lincoln, UK. He has 20+ years of experience in Private Equity, Healthcare, Capital Markets & Financial Services in SSA, Mauritius and India. Alex started his career with Fortis in India in Corporate Strategy. He moved to Uganda in 2012 and then to Mauritius where he was the Managing Director of CHL for 4 years. Alex joined Kibo in 2022.
Chief Finance and Risk Officer

Nitish Nowjee

Nitish is finance graduate and member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants since 2008. He started his career with Pricewaterhouse Coopers in auditing, later acquiring extensive experience in fund administration and accounting from prior roles with Northern Trust in Guernsey and Argyll Management in Mauritius. He joined the Kibo team in August 2014.
Venture and Technology Partner

Benoit Delestre

Benoit holds a Master’s degree from the European Business School (France). He started his career in an IT Consulting company and later created and sold two Fintech companies in Europe. Benoit then founded Nadra Ventures, OCP’s corporate VC investing in African companies. In 2017, he co-founded Saviu Ventures, a venture capital firm with the objective to invest in a portfolio of tech projects in East and West Africa.

Rasmus Bentzen

Rasmus holds an MSc in Applied Economics and Finance from Copenhagen Business School, Denmark. Rasmus started his career in the Credit department of Euler Hermes in Denmark where he carried out credit ratings of Danish SME’s. He then moved to JP Morgan’s Credit Research department in London where he produced analyses of European Corporate Bonds and Credit Default Swaps. Prior to joining KCP, Rasmus was a Senior Associate at Genghis Capital’s Corporate Finance team where covered debt and equity placements as well as M&A transactions.

Raeesha Fakira

Raeesha holds a degree (First Class) in Accounting and Finance from the University of Southampton (UK) and has qualified as a Chartered Accountant in England and Wales. Prior to joining KCP she has worked with Deloitte in Risk Advisory Department where her engagements included valuations for quoted and unquoted investments in India and Mauritius, establishing IFRS and reporting norms within banks and Risk Assessments.
