Our Team consists of 9 investment professionals of varied backgrounds and experiences situated across 3 countries. Our team is spearheaded by three Partners who have the day-to-day responsibility of our funds as well as supervising portfolio management.

Co-Founder & Managing Partner

Thierry Hugnin

Thierry holds a Master’s Degree in Applied Finance from Paris IX-Dauphine University in France and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in England and Wales in 1993. He started his career in investment banking in London at Flemings and later joined Blakeney Management, a London-based investment boutique, focusing on Africa and the Middle East. Thierry later moved back to Mauritius and co-founded Kibo Capital Partners in 2007 with Jean-Pierre Dalais in a venture with CIEL Limited to pursue his belief that Africa offers attractive opportunities for private equity.
Partner, Head of Portfolio Management and Sustainability

Christoph Evard

Prior to joining Kibo Capital Partners in 2014, Christoph was Vice President at DEG/KfW Group, where he structured and managed equity and mezzanine investments across Africa. He previously worked in M&A Corporate Finance for Deutsche Bank and JP Morgan, where he held several positions. He holds a Master’s degree from Columbia University, USA, and an undergraduate degree from the University of Basle, Switzerland. In 2001, Christoph co-founded Vistage Germany, a business in the services industry, working closely with CEOs of mid-sized corporations.
Chief Finance and Risk Officer

Nitish Nowjee

Nitish is finance graduate and member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants since 2008. He started his career with Pricewaterhouse Coopers in auditing, later acquiring extensive experience in fund administration and accounting from prior roles with Northern Trust in Guernsey and Argyll Management in Mauritius. He joined the Kibo team in August 2014.
Venture and Technology Partner

Benoit Delestre

Benoit holds a Master’s degree from the European Business School (France). He started his career in an IT Consulting company and later created and sold two Fintech companies in Europe. Benoit then founded Nadra Ventures, OCP’s corporate VC investing in African companies. In 2017, he co-founded Saviu Ventures, a venture capital firm with the objective to invest in a portfolio of tech projects in East and West Africa.
Country Manager

Sofia Rocha

Sofia holds a Master’s Degree in Business Management from Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão, Portugal and she worked both in Lisbon and in London at Ernst & Young, West LB, Satya Capital and 54 Capital.  Sofia has 19 years of combined experience in Transaction Advisory Services and Private Equity. In the last 11 years, Sofia has specialized in origination and execution of Private Equity investments in Sub-Saharan Africa, with a focus on lusophone countries. Sofia moved to Mozambique in 2017.

Rasmus Bentzen

Rasmus holds an MSc in Applied Economics and Finance from Copenhagen Business School, Denmark. Rasmus started his career in the Credit department of Euler Hermes in Denmark where he carried out credit ratings of Danish SME’s. He then moved to JP Morgan’s Credit Research department in London where he produced analyses of European Corporate Bonds and Credit Default Swaps. Prior to joining KCP, Rasmus was a Senior Associate at Genghis Capital’s Corporate Finance team where covered debt and equity placements as well as M&A transactions.

Raeesha Fakira

Raeesha holds a degree (First Class) in Accounting and Finance from the University of Southampton (UK) and has qualified as a Chartered Accountant in England and Wales. Prior to joining KCP she has worked with Deloitte in Risk Advisory Department where her engagements included valuations for quoted and unquoted investments in India and Mauritius, establishing IFRS and reporting norms within banks and Risk Assessments.
Financial Analyst

Ronald Wakhu

Ronald holds a degree in Financial Economics from Strathmore University.  He previously worked at HEVA Fund, where he built financial models for small businesses in Kenya’s creative sector and at AHL Venture Partners where he conducted financial analysis, macroeconomic research and impact reporting. Ronald was also a research intern at the International Monetary Fund.
Fund Controller and Compliance Officer

Sita Doorgakant

Sita holds a degree in Finance with law from the University of Mauritius. She started her career with SANNE Mauritius where she worked in administration of closed ended funds and other global business companies. She has experience in global business, private equity and fund accounting.
Administrative Assistant

Prisca Louis

Prisca joined Kibo Capital Partners in February 2018. Her responsibilities include overseeing Kibo’s administrative matters and assisting with logistics support to the team. Prisca has more than fifteen years’ experience in this field.
